Going Viral was the first solo exhibition under the name of Philipp Spiegel. Taking place in the offspace “Hörnesgasse 10” in Vienna, Austria, the general topic of the exhibition was the integration of HIV into my life since becoming infected four years ago.

The photographic works presented was categorised into four different groups;
The Medical and the Everyday – How daily need for medication changes life and its perception
The Personal – A challenging confrontation with myself, my being and who I am as a “positive” person, in comparison to the “negative” I was before – wearing a mask in society.
The Women – Being heterosexual, HIV is a rather uncommon confrontation. How has my perception of women and the approach to women changed throughout the years of being HIV positive.
The blood – Blood had infected me. And blood has taken a large presence in my life; ideas of venomous blood, or simply the tri-monthly checks I have to make take a part in the exhibition.

Going Viral war die erste Einzelausstellung unter dem Künstlernamen Philipp Spiegel. Im Offspace “Hörnesgasse 10”, 1030 Wien, handelte die Ausstellung von der Integration von HIV und dessen Aspekte in Philipp Spiegels Leben. Um diese zu Veranschaulichen, wurden die Werke in vier Kategorien geteilt.
Medizinisch und der Alltag – Wie die tägliche Einnahme von Lebens-verlängernder Medikation sich auf einen Auswirkt. Was bedeutet es, HIV zu haben?
Persönlich – Wie nimmt man die Veränderungen wahr die HIV mit sich bringt. Wer war man als “Negativer”, wer ist man als “Positiver”?
Frauen – HIV und Heterosexualität ist noch immer ein grosses Tabu – wie geht man mit Sexualität um? Wie verändert sich der Zugang zu Frauen und dem Kennenlernen?
Blut – Blut spielte bei der Infektion eine grosse Rolle – und weiterhin im Leben. Gedanken an ein “giftiges” Blut und die regelmässigen Untersuchungen.
